Saint John Southworth Catholic Academy Trust

SJSCAT Foundation Mass 2025

Published Friday 11 July 2025

On Thursday 26th June, over 900 pupils from across the schools within the Saint John Southworth Catholic Academy Trust gathered at Westminster Cathedral for the Foundation Day Mass.  The Mass celebrated the feast day of the Trust’s patron, Saint John Southworth.

The Trust was established in September 2021, with the aim of creating a family of schools in line with the Diocesan vision.  The shared mission of our Trust, built on solidarity and subsidiarity, is to support our pupils’ formation and achievement, whilst preserving and strengthening excellent Catholic education.

The service was celebrated by Bishop James Curry.  Bishop Curry is a former Chair of Governors at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Primary School, the most recent school to join the Trust, a former Governor of The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School, as well as being one of the founding Directors of the Trust itself. In June 2024, he was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Westminster. It was an honour to have Bishop Curry celebrate our Foundation Mass.

During the offertory, a collection for the Priests Training Fund, raised through a recent fundraising appeal led by the Trust Chaplaincy, was presented.
